Almost one week of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2012 has passed with wonderful plays from various parts of the world in different languages. Thousands of theatre lovers are daily enjoying various plays at NSD auditoriums and other like Kamani, LTG etc.

CHorea Theatre Association presented this play in Delhi and then moved Amritsar for the same. This first time that Bharat Rang Mahotsav is being celebrated outside Delhi. Soon it is expected to spread in other parts of nation. I had a quick chat with one of the artists of this group and they really loved Amritsar and places around it.

This time tickets for 14th Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2012 were sold on Bookmyshow.com as well as at NSD Counters. Tickets were available at 50 Rs, 100 Rs and 200 Rs. With growing theatre lovers arrangements are no doubt less and lot of folks could not even find tickets. Some of the plays with booked in few minutes and many youngsters daily come to auditoriums, with a hope that they will at least get entry for watching the play by standing on sides of the auditoriums.
Plays like Red Hot and Aadhe Adhure were booked in record times and many folks on internet querying about the possibilities of getting entry. Many of the tickets were reserved by NSD for invitations to known folks in Theatre circle and Media folks. If we go inside the auditorium, lot of such seats can be seen unfilled. But the good part is that authorities allow other folks inside as they see the possibility of arranging proper seating for them. But at times, it's very chaotic which disturbs the artists performing on stage.
During 14th Bharat Rang Mahotsav, plays at various auditoriums like SRC, LTG, Kamani, Bahumukhh, Sammukhh, Abhimanch, Meghdoot-1, Meghdoot-2, NSD Open Air Theatre are happening daily. Plays are from various parts of India and other countries like Poland, China etc. Plays start at 4:30 pm and last show starts at 8:30 pm.
So far following plays have been shown during Bharat Rang Mahotsav - 'Papa Laden', Visarjan, Gajab Kahani, Mannat Mahal, Grotowski - An Attmpt to Retreat, Nain Nachiya, Lankalakshmi, Journey to Dakghar, Payanihal, Khud aur Khuda, Red Hot, Mirage, Badshah Pather, Bastard Band, Kothay Pabo Tare, Chandalika, Inkosazana, Aadhe Adhure, Tota Bola, Actors are not allowed, Rakta-Karabi, Samjhouta, Ferrous, The Golden Dragon, Peking Opera, Beech Sehar, Ghayal Pakhara, Taramandal, E=MC2 , Marimakanni, Loika Loikum, Chandalika, Meidhwani- Echoes of the body, Rather Rashi, Zero One Project...
'Grotowski - An Attempt to Retreat' was a very different play in terms of presentation of ideas and questions the artists have been asking from each other. All I can say that energy, flexibility, practice and expressions of this team were commendable.
Now Ploand team is out to Rajasthan during the weekend and hope to catch up with them at NSD Food Hub during next week. I wish them a great trip to Jaipur and Pushkar, one of the best places in Rajasthan to visit.
14th Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2012 started last Sunday (8th Jan'2012) and will close on 22nd. Almost one week has already passed with wonderful performances by various artists from different parts of the world.
Apart from fun, each play poses some questions to the world which could really help us as human beings and making this earth a better place to spend our lives. Some of the plays also present different cultures in a very good manner, with appropriate exposure to audience who have no clue around that. This is something very strong thing in Theatre that some of the detailed theories can be very well explained through one or two hours of play or performance. At times, these plays compel us to read, research more about some of the issues in our regions or cultures which are dieing slowly.
Bharat Rang Mahotsav also provide a solid platform for Theatre Artists to interact with each other. There are various things planned during day time like talk to directors. After play, next day, each director can be reachable at appropriate locations to understand their ideas about the play, execution challenges etc. And of course in evening many folks from Theatre can be seen at NSD Food Hub.
Bharat Rang Mahotsav can also be called as Theatre Mahakumb in Delhi, where many artists from various parts of the world come and share their ideas & experiments in field of Theatre Art. Keep watching this place for more details about 14th Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2012.
