Tashi Jong Monestary near Palampur/Baijnath || Monestaries in Himachal Pradesh, India

Himalayan state of India is full of Monasteries and lots of folks from various parts of of the world come here. Dharmshala region is one of the most popular one, after Lahual & Kaza. Let's check out this Photo Journey from Tashi Jong Monastery...It was a Sunday, when we moved from Palampur towards Utrala Hydro project. This Monestry came on the way from Baijnath to Utrala Hydro project. This gentleman was sitting on road side and gave an idea to visit this Monestry. There was a small cut on left side to hit Tashi Jong Monestery. To know more about other monasteries in Himachal Pradesh, Check out http://www.himachalworld.com/religious-tourism/monasteries-in-himachal.html#list_of_monasteries_in_himachalJust after parking the car, we met a group of children at Tashi Jong Monestery. Simling faces with a different sort of energy in all of them. Very humble and some of them offered us their services for guiding inside the campus. Most of them were shy and particularly this fellow was not very confortable in front my travelling camera :) ... This photograph was clicked as he looked back at Travelling Camera, which was chasing him. Here is main temple inside Tashi Jong Monestery, but unfortunately we were there at wrong time. Most of the campus was closed at that particular time. We spent some time around the place and had some snacks in neighbouring shops.Himachal Pradesh boasts sizeable population of the followers of Buddhism. It's quite natural for the region to have numerous Buddhists monasteries on it's beutiful landscape. As Himachal Pradesh has been under strong Buddhist influence, the spiritual leader of the Tibetans, the Dalai Lama, made Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh as his residence. Apart from mumerous monesetries, there are lot of small villages can be found around Dharmshala, which have mjor infuence of Budhism.Puneet wanted to have a photograph with these folks, who guided us through the Tashi Jong Campus.Buddhism in Himachal Pradesh, the beutiful state of India which is also known as Dev-Bhumi, can be traced back to the spread of Buddhism in the early 8th century. Over the centuries this activity has become deeper rooted, particularly in the Lahaul, Spiti and Kinnaur valleys of Himachal Pradesh. Since Dharmshala is one of the main center, Kangra has also got some monesetries. During our visit to Bir Billing, we also saw one of the huge monestery in the valley. It seemed one of the major school for learning Budhism in Himachal Pradesh. After the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso, escaped from Tibet with his followers in 1959 and took refuge in India, the focus on Tibetan Buddhism spread further and attracted immense international sympathy and support... The Dalai Lama found Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh as an ideal place to establish his 'capital in exile' at McLeodganj in close vicinity to Dharamshala, and is called the Little Lhasa and also as Dhasa (a combination of Dharamshala and Lhasa in Tibet). (courtesy - wikipedia)More information about Budhism in Himachal Pradesh can be checked at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism_in_Himachal_PradeshThis situation has given the state a unique status in the global firmament of Buddhist traditions. It is now the cradle of Tibetan Buddhism, with its undeniable link to the past activities initiated in the 8th century (in 747 AD) by Guru Padmasambhava (who went to Tibet from Rewalsar in Himachal Pradesh in North India to spread Buddhism), who was known as the

Utrala Hyderal Project near Palampur/Baijnath || Hyderal Projects in Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Few years back, I was visiting Palampur for a marriage and had enough time during the day time. So we went to a Hydro project which is located in a small village near Baijnath. Let's start this Photo Journey to Utrala Hydro project in Himachal Pradesh...Here is a photograph of famous Shiva Temple at Baijnath, Himachal Pradesh. We started our journey from Palampur, through Paprola and took a left without touching Baijnath. This cut is just at the boundary of Baijnath town. This Shiva temple is visible on top of hill of Baijnath and visible from surrounding areas. Temple is very well maintained with a committee which is formed to ensure that all necessary things keep happening in the campus without any disturbance or indiscipline. There is a beautiful garden in the back side of this Shiva Temple at Baijnath...Here is a zigzag road which leads to Baijnath. I had heard of lot of Hydro projects in Upper Shimla and Kinnaur regions, but had never though of Palampur region. In Himachal, projects upto 5MW can be setup by private companies and many companies from Himachal and South India are operating in Himachal. To know more, check out http://himurja.nic.in/smallhydro.htmlAfter taking left turn from Paprola, we started climbing up and road was in worst possible state. Very narrow road with no maintenance was taking us towards the place where water was reserved and lots was connected to lot of tunnels on higher hills. The planned town you see in above photograph is probably the colony of workers form this hydro project. We crossed through various villages and farm-land on the way from Paprola to Utrala. Himachal Pradesh Government decided to explore hydel potential in small hydro sector through private sector participation during 1995-96. Since then allotment of project sites has been a continuous process. Till this year (2011), 450+ Small hydro Electric Projects (upto 5MW capacity) with an aggregate capacity of 1150+ MW have been allotted to different companies. Out of these 45 projects with an aggregate capacity of 175+ MW have been commissioned. A goal of 500 MW through Small Hydel Projects by the end of 2014 has been fixed...It was a wonderful ride till the project location, if I forget about the part when car tyres were overlapping with road boundaries. It was scary to sit on side seat and look down from your car. At many places, I even suggested to park the car and walk up few kilometers to reach the location. Here is one of the news talking about top companies participating in power generation through hydro projects in Himachal Pradesh - Click. Here is first view we get of small water reservoir on top of the hill. This water comes through various tunnels in surrounding mountains and lifted up after generating some power out of it's heavy pressure on turbines installed down in the base of this huge hill. Puneet standing with information board of Utrala Hydro Project in Himachal Pradesh (In Palampur/Baijnath region.).Hope to visit Kinnaur in 2012 to visit more such projects along with wonderful places around these.

I hope that you have already checked other Photo Journeys from OYA Motorsports, Mohali. If not, just check out following two Photo Journeys and continue with this oneJk Tyre OYA Auto Cross and Motorcross @ Mohali, Punjab || Motorsports in India Dust Storm at Mohali (Chandigarh), Punjab || JKTYRE OYA Auto Cross and Motorcro Let's check out this Photo Journey from Mohali...In this Photo Journey, we are sharing some of the photographs from space outside the ground where all these activities happened during JK Tyre OYA Autocross and Motorcross. There were lots of modified cars and jeeps on the ground. Some of them were amazingly done with wonderful collection of lights, specially designed tyres and other stuff, which I don't understand. Aneesh's Car @ Oya Autocross & Motorcross. Somehow I missed F1 stickers on the car and apart from that this car flies like anything. After the event, we used the same to roam around Chandigarh. Here is a an Indian couple from US, who are out of world trip for last few months and they are using bike for the trip. It seems that both of them are very interested in Motorsports, as they have also participated in Raid-de-Himalayas in Oct'2011. I would love to know more about their plans about this trip !! One of the Mahindra 4 by 4 doing some practice on outer track of the ground. In fact, whole ground was designed in an amazing way. This ground is usually used for Sabzi-mandi in Phase-7 of Mohali, Punjab. For this event, various tracks were designed with appropriate distance, curves and hurdles on the way. There were some under ground paths carved as well. One of the popular Indian Rider and winner of many national bike riding events !!! He did some demo rides during the breaks and he was only one who was literally flying on his bike. There was an elevated hurdles on the ground an most of the competitors were very cautious about the same. While he was taking advantage of that elevation to fly in the air. Some of the photographs of his bike flying in the air are available on links shared above.Bike competitions were most exciting and other reason was visibility. People around this ground could not see car racing clearly, as there was lot of dust around the ground. While bike racing was very clear and there were more than 5 participants at a time as compared to 2 car competitors at any point of time.I am not sure about standard speed but somehow they seemed slow as compared to riders who freely ride on hilly/plain roads. Probably these curvy tracks were designed in such a way that it was not easy to maintain the speed very high.It was 3rd time, when OYA was organizing this event in Mohali, Punjab. JK Tyre was one of the main sponsor of this event, although I saw many of the other posters on the ground, which are also shown through some of the photographs shared in other two Photo JourneysThe day was wonderfully spent on OYA Motorsport ground with all these passionate riders !!! First day of my official shutdown spent well in Mohali !!!

Stickers Market near Karol Bagh, Delhi - Which Sticker you want? || Mobilegiri in Dilli

Few months back, one of my friend was visiting who is crazy about bike riding. He had to buy some stuff for his bike in chandigarh and we reached Karol Bagh Market. on back side of main market, there is a huge market for bikes and cars. I think it was diwali day and market was almost close. During this visit to Karolbag, we also visited Universal Digital Imaging Company, which is a shop for printing different types of stickers. Let's check out this PHOTO JOURNEY, with some details about the way they process these stickers in few seconds...It was probably a 50 square-feet shop, which was full of stickers all around, two computers and few printers. Initially, this setup was not very impressive to me. Aneesh, who was accompanying me started talking to the person there. He needed some special stickers, who can only be printed for associated members of a particular Motorsport Club. That fellow asked for the permissions and we had nothing in written. Aneesh called up one of the officers from the relevant club to take permission. Finally they started processing the stickers. I was amazed to see the level of scrutiny this sticker shop was doing. After all the formalities, the guy started working on his computers and there were thousands of images on his machine. Almost all kinds of stickers - Political parties, Motorbike clubs, Media channels, Religious etc. We picked up 4 of them for Aneesh. This computer was connected to a printing machine, which actually cut out some pieces of various shapes, as designed in a image. Different colored papers are fed into these machines and final outcome came as cut out marks. To see how these machines work, please check out the video in the end.Universal Stickers in Delhi is one of the most popular shops, which prints stickers for various companies, organizations or political parties from various states of India. All people at this shop were amazingly efficient in handling customers. Everyone had a specific set of skill to handle all jobs in an efficient way.Few people were extremely efficient in handling computers, which was more about doing custom changes on runtime and printing them accurately and at the same time, some people were skilled for taking the cut out portions out of the main sheet and align them. I know, it sounds weird that how sticker printing can be so complex. But yes, it is. There are lot of complex stickers in market which have complex curves with multiple colors and all this need special handling. Don't forget to watch this video for understanding the way these stickers are created. In fact the primary step is shown in this video.

Hatu Temple near Narkanda and Tani-Jubber Lake in Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

Temple situated on Hatu peak is one of the main temples in Narkanda region of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Hatu, being a common tourist place and must go place for bikers, has an important significance in this region. It's one of the highest motorable peaks in this region, although disconnects from rest of the world in winters. Let's have a quick Photo Journey to the temple situated at Hatu Peak -Here is a lake which comes on the way from main highway to Hatu Peak. There is small mud-house on one side of this lake. Usually this house remain closed, but some gujjar family comes here to stay for sometime. Approximately 10 km from Narkanda, this road is surrounded by pine and spruce trees... You will not be able to locate this lake in winters, as it freezes during winters and snow make a natural cover on top of it.On top of the Hatu hill, ancient Hatu Mata temple is located, which was under renovation during Oct'2011. The raw material in front of this temple symbolizes the progress and it must have taken few more months to complete this work. The peak offers spectacular view of the entire Himalayan ranges, snow clad mountains and in depths are the dense forests, green fields and apple orchards. Hiking is recommended to reach the peak...Here is a closer look at the woodwork done in most of the part of Hatu Temple. Internal walls are made up of stone and wood mixed with a creative design, while outer pillars are completely built by wood as we can see in above photograph. Roof top has two layers, the lower one is again constructed with wood and top one is made up of slate. Slates are actually specially cut pieces of a layers rock, which is found on specific hills. This rocks are usually very hard, shiny and found on hills, which get snowfall very frequently.Priest at Hatu Temple. Temporarily Hatu Mata was placed on left side of the temple which was under renovation. Priest was also busy in lot many other things, so he just open this part of temple when someone visit the place. During the same time, we ensure that other activities at new temple are moving with good pace. Here is a photograph shows internal view of Hatu Mata Temple near Narkanda, Shimla(HP). Light was very low inside the temple, that's why you see some color-shifts in this photograph. Original Photograph was very dark and post-processing introduced color-noise here.Last year, one of the passionate biker hiked this peak just after Snow Fall and this was done with his princess... Dust Storm at Mohali (Chandigarh), Punjab || JKTYRE OYA Auto Cross and Motorcross

Last week, a motorsport event took place in Mohali (Near Chandigarh), which was organized by OYA Auto Cross and Motorcross. JK Tyre was one of the main sponsor of this event and it continued for three days. During final day I also visited the ground to bring this PHOTO JOURNEY for you. Let's check it out...Cars were literally flying on this ground and whole region was full of dust only. At times it was difficult to see these moving cars. It was hard to imagine that we were standing on a ground which is not in states like Rajasthan. The only word was coming to my mind at that point of time - Dust-Storm, like the one happens in Rajasthan; 'Desert Storm'... Let's check out more photographs from this series of Dust-Storm in Chandigarh...Different types of Cars and Bikes participated in this event, but cars competitions were mainly compelling us to rename it as 'Dust Storm'. Only two cars at a time were enough to cover sky with dust.I am not sure what this 'Dewars' was, but various pillars were planted on this ground. These should be some brands who supported this motorsport event. Barista was also there to serve snacks and drinks, but not sure if they were sponsors or not.Different cars by Honda, Maruti, Mitsubishi & Toyota participated in this event. At times, it was hard to believe that some specific cars can fly like this... One of the rider was very well controlling a white Swift, and it was competing with a 4 by 4 Jypsy...These cars were making the ground-dust to fly in air and at times, they used to cover themselves by dust storms. Specifically, there was huge dust on taking any turn.A colorful Maruti Car going down into a tunnel which was created artificially on this ground for Motorcross competitions during 3rd OYA sports-event.Passion of all these riders was commendable and it was hard to imagine that human beings were driving these super-machines.'Dust Storm' is something coined on run-time and not related to this event.I tried to check about this event on FMSCI website but couldn't find any details. Website of OYA was not much helpful for me to get information as non-motorsport person. Anyway, please have a loo at following link to know more about the organization which organized this event in Mohali - http://oyamohali.comWhole ground was surrounded by lot of people who wanted to see these races, but unfortunately the dust was biggest enemy. After one lap of car racing, there was nothing visible on ground. So everyone was more excited about bike racing, which had more participants at one point of time and things were visible as least.Motrosports in India is one of the increasing passion among people in cities like chadigarh. Now India is also getting some powerful machines, which was not that easy few years back. But still lot of folks can't afford these powerful machines without sponsorship and in such competitions, it's not easy thing to compete with imported machines with our usual bikes.Another shot where another car is contributing to Dust Storm on this ground in Mohali, Punjab, INDIA...After lot of dust in above photographs, I also thought of sharing some bike photographs to show another side of the PHOTO JOURNEY...It seems that bikers in such competitions also use their legs as supporting equipment while turning these machines on extremely high speed. With this, let me finish this Photo Journey of Dust Storm in Chandigarh (Mohali, Punjab)

Monsoon Moments while at home in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

It was monsoon season when our house in Mandi(HP) was under construction. I was also out on leave and reached home after a long time. There was nothing to do at home, so clicked some of these photographs in a vegetable garden. I found all these clicks in an old pen-drive and thought of sharing these in form of a Photo Journey..Here is a fresh & colorful leaf drenched with rain-showers. Shining water drops look beautiful on these colorful leaves.Recently we had got a macro lens and I was carrying the same. Although I am not a huge fan of Macro Photography, but thought of trying few things. No doubt that marco photography need patience and disciplined techniques to get the right shot.Macro photography is close-up photography, usually of very small subjects. Classically a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject is greater than life size. However in modern use it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size. (Courtesy - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Macrophotography)Some of the duplicates of above photographs are shown below...

Jk Tyre OYA Auto Cross and Motorcross @ Mohali, Punjab || Motorsports in India

For last three days OYA Motorsports was organizing Auto Cross and Motorcross at Mohali, Punjab, It was happening opposite of Phase-7 and YPS Mohali. Many people know this place by Sabzi-Mandi as well. Today was final day with various rounds for different category candidates, who were shortlisted during last twi days. Let's have a quick PHOTO JOURNEY from 24th Dec'2011..There were different rounds for Bikers and 4-wheelers. In fact, there were many categories among these riders on the basis of type of vehicles and power associated with these machines. Bike Adventure is something very interesting to shoot, although shooting flying cars is great experience. We had dirt-bath throughout the day. It was a huge ground where tracks were created with some differentiation at different places. Dust was negligible during bike race, as compared to the time when only two cars were taking rounds on these tracks. My black colored bag had literally changed to yellowish color. To have a feel about this event, check out this video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqKdSf27kFEThis was one of the most interesting challenge where some of the selected 4 wheelers had to follow a very rough route to finish. There was a 10 feel deep hole with rough base and final phase had again a 4-6 feet hole with mud in it. Some of the cars stuck during final phase and needed to be recovered by cranes. At the same time, some of the Mahindra and Maruti 4*4 crossed it quit easily. This track was done in 43 seconds by Gagan & Nagra !!There was one Pagero, which also did this track quite easily. Tractor tyres were used in that Pajero ! Details about OYA Mohali can be checked at - http://oyamohali.comOld Yadavindrians Association (OYA) has been organizing this motorsports event in Mohali for last three years. OYA started this event to encourage drivers to race in a safe arena rather than indulging in illegal street racing causing danger to themselves and others. Maintaining this commitment the 3rd edition of this event has been named 'JK Tyre OYA Autocross & Motocross 2011'... The event is being organized in association with Team Chandigarh Adventure Sports. Rally drivers like Sunny Sidhu, Suresh Rana, Harpreet Bawa, Capt Pandey, Anil Wadia participated in this event, along with many others. These are only few of the photographs I clicked today and many others will be shared in few days, as I am out on vacations now :)Some of the photographs from previous years can be checked at http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/general-discussions-f21/oya-autocross-motocross-photos-t19464/It was great to see such enthusiastic people from various parts of India and a nice experience as well !!!Keep checking this place for more updates on OYA Motorsports activities.

Sarvana Bhavan at Connaught Place, Delhi, India || Popular Restaurant for South Indian Food

Few days back one of my friend told me about Sarvana Bhavan in Connaught place and we though of having lunch at the same place. It's just opposite to Janpath Market near CP, Delhi. Let's have a quick Photo Journey to Sarvana Bhavan in Connaught Place with some information about it's food and specialties...Welcome to Sarvana Bhavan. As you know, all popular places in Delhi are usually crowded. So the story of our lunch also started with waiting time for 25 minutes. And after a long wait we had to share the table. Since my friend was crazy about the South Indian food here, I simply followed the trends if Sarvana Bhavan. Otherwise I would have spent those 25 mins in locating some other good place which could offer comfortable seating at least. Here is what exactly we saw inside Sarvana Bhavan. Both of the floors were full of people and seating were extremely tight. There was hardly any space between the tables. It seemed that they get lot of customers daily and available real-estate need to be utilized in such a way.Place is fine for young and old age folks, but if someone want to visit the place with children, I would want to warn them. Waiting for 20 minutes at least and then getting into a tight space and get out of the space after finishing your food - This whole cycle will suffocate the kids with you. As there is no place for them to enjoy inside Sarvana Bhavan.Anyway, it was time to look at the menu and decide on items we wanted to have for Lunch. I got the reasoning behind the popularity and spacing problem. Their charges were very nominal. But I was expecting lovely south Indian food at same time. Let's see how it goes...We were sharing our table with this interesting couple, who ordered very unique items in lunch. They took enough time to look at all the items in Menu and then decided to have a special thali and Paper masala Dosa, with salted Dahi-Vada after main meal.Overall place was clean and comfortable, if we forget about the spacing. It's a completely air conditioned restaurant, which serve almost every South Indian Dish. Service was again good, as one person was dedicated for each row, who was only involved for taking order and making sure that no one is waiting for any type of service. Most of them communicate in South Indian Language(s)...We ordered on simple Thali and a Butter Rava Masala Dosa. I failed to notice anything good about the food here. South Indian at Sagar Ratna is far better that Sarvana Bhavan, but not sure why it's name is so popular. If you are reading this post and like Sarvana Bhavan food, please comment back and share about the things you like at this place. When we were waiting for our order to come, uncle and aunti were discussing about Sarvana Bhavan in Lajpat Nagar and they were really impressed by the food there. At the same time uncle received 4-5 calls and informed everyone that he is in CP Sarvana Bhavan with his wife. Here come our simple thali with a two Masala Dosas, Sambhar, Coconut chutney, one Subzi & some rasam. And yes, Sweet halva was also part of this thali. Food was ok, but not something great or special... Give an option, I will never com back to this place and would love to go to Sagar ratna for real taste of South Indian Food. After having food expressions were really like this. Uncle was really disappointed with food and also gave the same feedback to manager on second floor. Although, Manager's expressions were saying that he was not bothered much about what the gentleman explained to him.Sarvana Bhavan is good for one time experience and then decide yourself :)

Christmas Decorations at my Office in Noida || Mobilegiri

Today is last working day at office and whole office is in festive mood. Some of the folks have already left for the places where they want to celebrate Christmas and remaining are all set for 10 holidays. Whole office is very well decorated as per the mood. Let's check out this Photo journey from my office in Noida. Let's check out ... Very first photograph of this photo journey shows the reception area of our office and the photograph shows a huge pillar near reception with lovely decorations of balloons and sparkling ribbons.Decorations were done few days back and this is what most of us noticed on entering into the office. This is outside entry to the main building. Whole path was decorated with balloons of appropriate colors. This year I didn't get time to visit major markets/malls in Delhi which are usually decorated at very large scale during winters, specially for Christmas and New Year. Last year we visited Saket malls and there was a great environment for Christmas celebrations. Some of the photographs from last year can be seen at CHRISTMAS-2010 ... Here is main entry into the office building, which opens into the reception area. The popular celebratory customs associated in various countries have a mix of pre-Christian, Christian and secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, Christmas music and caroling, an exchange of Christmas cards, church celebrations, a special meal, and the display of various decorations, including Christmas trees, lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly. These days Christmas has become one of the main day to celebrate at schools and Indian houses. Good to see that people from various religions celebrate Christmas happily with their children and loved ones. During my school days, we just knew that there is something called Christmas and now my school also celebrate Christmas with all relevant customs. At many Indian homes decorations start one week before. Accessibility of decoration stuff is very easy, as all relevant stuff can be found on red-lights as well :) ... Markets in Delhi like Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazar starts getting all the colorful stuff in November. Folks who need large amount of gifts or things like caps, go to Chandani Chowk for shopping. But it's advised to go during week-days of November. Here is Santa of our office. A small one but brings lot of gifts :) ... Especially 10 holidays for celebrations !!I tried to check on web for knowing the ways Indians celebrate Christmas and found a link which mentions that Banana or Mango tree are also used for decorations instead of Pine Tree. Check out following link to know more about the Indian Celebration of Christmas - http://festivals.igiftstoindia.com/christmas/index.htmlAt times it seems that many Indians just forget the religious angle when it comes to celebrations, which is one of the very good thing. And all festivals are properly celebrated with appropriate customs around it.Here we have our Christmas tree places near Reception area. There are some gifts placed around it...Here is another blog, which talks about trends and Christmas Celebrations by Indians. Here ends the Christmas Photo Journey from my office !!!Merry Christmas & Happy New Year !!!

Today is last working day at office and whole office is in festive mood. Some of the folks have already left for the places where they want to celebrate Christmas and remaining are all set for 10 holidays. Whole office is very well decorated as per the mood. Flora and Fauna in Ramganga Resort @ Jim Corbett National Park, Uttranchal, INDIA

First time when I visited Jim Corbett during an office trip, we stayed at Ranganga resort, which was near to Ramganga river in Jim Corbett region. It was in 2008, when I had posted some of the photographs at RAMGANGA . Later I realized that photographs were exported in wrong manner from the software I use to process them. Here I am again sharing the same photographs with some touch-ups and right export settings. Let's have a quick journey to Ramganga resort again...This was one of the nice options to stay in Jim Corbett National Park, although it's located far away from actual wildlife sanctuary. Since it's just on river bank, people prefer to stay here. It's a property of Welcome group and very well maintained. Food was awesome and that was one of the reasons that I liked this place :) ... Although there are lot many other things to like about Ramganga Resort in Jim Corbett.A shining Yellow Gladiolus was smiling near Restaurant of Ramganga Resort. It was a situated at an elevated place, from where half of the resort was visible. There are different categories of rooms, suites and cottages. I loved the cottages !!! Ramganga resort has a nice swimming pool on one corner of a huge ground around the cottages. From this post, you might have guessed that I cherished the moments with gardening around this place. There were variety of flowers and colorful plants in the gardens around the huts in Ramganga Resort. It was quite easy to catch a glimpse of small birds and colorful butterflies...Somehow placement of huts and rooms in the resort was not very much photography friendly :) ... After coming back fro this trip I found that I have hardly any photograph of huts/cottages or rooms of Ramganga resort. There were few near swimming pool and others were not very much noticeable. Or my camera was only focusing on colorful flowers and pants around the huts/cottages in Ranganga Resort.Hibiscus - A Hanging Red Flower towards river boundary @ Ramganga Resort. Somehow none on this tree were blooming at that time or probably it was a hybrid variant. There is a closed area built for evening bon-fire, because of chilling breeze on riverbed. We had great time during evening and a DJ was also arranged for late night. Some talented folks in our team made the evening more beautiful. One of the gentleman was in full mood after few drinks.During early morning, we had nature walk to a nearby hill from where Resort was completely visible with wonderful view of Ramganga River. During this walk we also noticed a beautiful bridge on this river, which was close to our Resort. After breakfast some of us went till that bridge to generally feel the place...We had evening safari planned and moved towards Jim Corbett National Park. Now I have forgotten about the gate we entered through. But I don't think, that matter a lot. Main thing is to have patience and observe the surroundings. One of the friend noticed something similar to forest-cat behind the bushes, but it disappeared as we asked the driver to take backA Dhalia flower surrounded by multicolored flowers in the garden. In this post, I see some disconnect between photographs and description I am sharing. But for me these photographs made me remember that trip and at the same time, I don't have much idea about these flowers :)A small bird sitting on a stone in the middle of Ramganga River. Bird watching was something , for which we needed not to wait for Safari inside the national park. There was a dense forest opposite to the resort and Ramganga River... In fact, the open ground inside the resort was full of birds during morning of second day...A photograph of some metallic object installed for marking a boundary of irrigated land, which came on the way during morning walk to neighboring hillHere is the view of huge ground inside Ramganga Resort, Jim Corbett National Park, Uttranchal, INDIA. Family suites are here on left side of the photograph and bonfire area in the middle-top. Folks played football in this region and many times ball went into the river. River is actually on the right part of this ground.Spider net on one of the street-lamp installed on the paths connecting different cottages and suites with Restaurant of Ramganga Resort. Here is one of the photograph clicked during early morning, when dew-drops were shining on rose leaves. This shine looks amazing when sunlight has just touched the ground. This is reception area of Ramganga Resort. Although none of us felt the need of approaching the staff at reception, because things were already in place most of the times. And in case needed, folks were roaming around the place and very responsive as wellGerbera Flowers were in abundance... With this Photo Journey to Ram Ganga Resort completes here and would try to share more with relevant photographs, if I could find. I had been to Jim Corbett three times and always stayed at different places. Second time, one of my friend had arranged a government guest house and third time we stayed at Tarangi Resort, which is again a nice place to stay at Jim Corbett National Park.

Ghada Kuffer - A small and beautiful village in Himachal Pradesh !!

During recent trip in Himalayas, we also visited a small village called Ghda Kuffer with amazing natural beauty. We reached this place after crossing various hills, raw roads and dense forests, but all was worth... Let's have a quick Photo Journey of this place in Shimla region of Himachal Pradesh...This was our camping ground. It was actually a natural ground in the middle of dense forest with high cedars and pine trees. Although it was just beginning of October, but it was too cold out there. Weather made our experience more interesting :)Tents were installed all over Ghada Kuffer. This place was not close to the village but very approachable. There are 3-4 shops in the village for regular stuff. It was around 10 minutes walk to these shops and a beautiful water pond in the middle of Ghada Kuffer Market. As we start moving towards Ghada Kuffer village or market, the camp ground looked more beautiful. It was a climb from camping ground to Ghada Kuffer Market, although not very steep. For some of us it was easy and few of u were not very comfortable in taking short-cuts, so a dedicated road was also there which takes 10 minutes extra...Ghada Kuffer resident with typical Himachali Cap. Usually this cap can be seen in upper Himachal region, but at some places natural flowers are also added on top of it. And it's really surprising that flowers looks almost fresh all the time, unless cap is kept under pressure.A water pond near Ghada Kuffer Market... There are Various houses around this pond and folks in the village are mainly dependent on agriculture and Apple business. Although not everyone has Apple business. There are lot of such beautiful places in Hills of Himachal Pradesh and state of India, but least explored. Many time Himachal Tourism visited this place for analyzing the scope of tourism, but nothing happened till. This is what villagers told us.In past some of the folks also constructed their houses in a way that later, one portion can be converted into Guest-house under new home-stay scheme by Himachal Pradesh Tourism department.Kids following the lines...The very good part about villages in Himachal is about their thoughts around education. It's very hard to locate any child who is not going to schools and most of them do metric at least. Himachal Pradesh is one of the top 3 states in India, when we talk about Literacy.A view of hills around Ghada Kuffer Village, although this photograph is clicked when we left the village and moved towards Shilaroo. With this, PHOTO JOURNEY to Ghada Kuffer ended and hope to visit more such unexplored places in different states India and share on this blog !!!

Mobilegiri while on Himachal Trip (Shimla > Kullu > Shimla) in October'2011

Apart from my heavy SLR Camera, I also carry a small Mobile phone by HTC which has a decent camera to shoot day pics anytime. All the photographs shared in this post are clicked by my Mobile Phone and I call it Mobilegiri :)The recent trip to Himachal Pradesh was quite exciting for different reasons. One of the reasons was meeting new friends during the journey. Here I am not talking about Parikshit. It's Billu, who is in his hands. A cute kitten. who met us on the way at Shawadh in kullu District.Everyone wanted to spend some time with this kitten. Aneesh is also trying to save her from chilly morning in Hills. He also took care of breakfast and all. After few minutes with Aneesh, she was quite comfortable and started climbing up. Here she is sitting on him shoulder. I love her expressions in this photograph, while covered in warm jacket. Here some another dear friend, Pradumn. We met him at Tani Jubber. He was here to visit his Grandparents, otherwise he stays in Shimla. His Grandmother is standing in the background and not sure if you noticed Apple orchard in the background. Anyway, there is hardly any clue to guess that it's an apple orchard :He was quite shy in the beginning and after few minutes of talk with Rohit (Khachi), he started dancing on 'Chhamakk Challo' form Ra-One :During this trip, we also crossed Shilaroo Hockey Stadium which is considered as highest Hockey ground in AsiaIt's located just roadside, surrounded by high peaks of Hatu on one side.Throughout the trip we stayed in tents but always tried to find a decent hotel for bath :) ... Although hot water was available at camps but adventurous bath-tents were not very convenient :) This was one of the hotel near Narkanda and Hatu. Here is a diversion for Hatu Peak from main road which connects Narkanda with Thanedar. Hatu peak is one of the popular place among Bollywood directors. Many movies are shot at this place. There were some talented bikers accompanying us. Specifically Aneesh, who drove me up till Hatu Peak and parked his bike here on top of a rock, which was not accessible through road. He drove his bike through different hills to reach this point. Here is a view of Hatu Temple from other side of the hill, which has amazing view to the valley in the foothills, dangerous as well. I am very scared when Aneesh was driving his bike on this hill and stopped just on edge. One of the view of Hills in Himachal on a cloudy day, which is most suitable for shooting any horror movie. Kali Ghanghor ghata types..One of the orchard house where we stayed for one night. It was in Tani Jubber and thanks to Pawan for all the arrangements at this place. Hot water was must thing during those days and it was like most precious thing for us.Here is another photograph from Orchard house in Tani Jubber, when we were moving ahead in the morning.Tani Jubber Lake in the morning...A photograph inside tent. The tripod in the front is used to place bulb and have proper light inside the tent. Folks inside the tent are Rohit, Pawan, Chandan, Parikshit and Saurabh (Left to Right). Thanks to Rohit, who made all our evenings joyful with his acts on various Himachali Policians :) - 'आले भाई, हेलिकोप्तल को लोका क्यों नहीं जब मैडम आ लाही थी तो :)'Colorful camping ground of Kullu Sarahan, where we spent a complete day and two nights. It was the best place to camp and experience Himalayan Nature. These are temporary toilets and bathrooms !!!A temporary bridge installed to connect camps with nearest road...Whole gang near Sarahan Waterfall. Almost everyone took bath in this chilling water !!!A quick photograph of Kullu Sarahan Village in Himachal Pradesh...It was breakfast time and we were sitting in Chalai fields to spot our targets for capturing in cameras. Rohit's curious look !!A quick Mobile click from a moving car, when a mother is doing the regular morning stuff !!Finally this trip ended at Ridge, Shimla... A person who walk between Sanjali and Mall Road, can very well describe this place. Lots of fruit shops near lakkar Bazar A typical Shimla hill with lots of highrise building on itThis is we used to take bath during these days. On some of the days, we located decent places and on other days such small waterfalls worked for us. Although water in these streams was chilling...

Celebrations for Vaishali's New Car ( Chevrolet Spark) || Mobilegiri @ Ice-cream party in Shoprix, Noida

Although it's difficult to forget Rangshala outing , but this time occasion was different and it was unplanned outing for Ice-Cream Party in a nearby mall. I am very late in posting these photographs, as this car had been used in lot many team parties and outings since she bought it :) . Congrats Vaishali for new car !!! In our office, congrats may also mean another party. It was lunch time in office, when one of the folks started talking about cars and it came out that Vaishali has also bought new car. So after lunch we should go out for ice-cream party. This is how this outing was planned. Our office is in City Center and we thought of going to a nearby mall called Shopprix. After reaching Nirula's it was difficult for me to decide the ice-cream, so here I was doing some time-pass while others were deciding or tasting most of the flavors :)After reading all these creative names, I though of having Hot Chocolate Fudge :) , although this was not a very good idea after lunch. Quantity of HCF was too much, but some of the generous friends were also accompanying.'Vaishali used to drive Hyundai Santro long time back'. All such things were being discussed during the wait time after ordering ice-creams. After a while first order arrived and I think it was Tarun's :)Swarnima is also focused after she got her Ice-cream. I don't remember the flavour but it does look quite delectable. Yumm Chocolate. An all time favorite. :) I know very few people who do not like Chocolate ice-cream. I also like Nirula's Icecreams a lot. Some of their flavours are even better than Baskin-Robbins'.While writing about Team Outings, I realized that how fast time changes. Team outings 6 years back were completely different than what we do these days. Lots of people from our team have moved on and new have joined in. With all this, things have changed a lot as well...They are eating so fast that HTC Camera is not able to match the shutter speed with them :)Ohh, Swarnima's ice-cream hi-jacked by Vaishali :) Anyways, it was not like that... With such a sweet treat, we all wished her another new car, a big one !!! Hope that Vaishali buys new car and take us out for such treat again...

Trek to Sirolsar Lake near Jalori Pass in Himachal Pradesh, INDIA

During October, 2011 we were on a 10 Days trip in Himachal Pradesh and we hit Jalori Pass on sixth day. We reached early as per plan and though of exploring surrounding areas during the free time we had. Then we got to know about Sirolsar Lake, which was 45 minutes away from main market at Jalori Pass. There is a wonderful walk through dense forests, green meadows etc.Let's check out this Photo Journey from Jalori Pass to Sirolsar Lake in Himachal Pradesh, India...There is small cut near Jalori Temple, which leads to Sirolsar Lake. After coming back from this trip, when I searched for lakes in Himachal, I got wikipedia as top link, but there was no mention about this lake. Which was sort of strange for us.The walk/trek towards Sirolsar Lake started after some snacks at Jalori Pass Market. The boards shown in this photograph are appropriate indicators in forest. Actually there is a temple near Sirolsar Lake and people visit the place for religious reasons as well. Since there are various paths inside forest, so it would have been difficult to reach the place without these indicators. There is a resort on the way from Jalori Pass to Sirolsar Lake. Actually Jalori Pass is very popular place among riders and hikers, there are some interesting place to stay around Jalori Pass. By looking at this resort, it seemed that place is not very popular and it was not very well maintained as well. Probably it was not the right time and they plan overall maintenance as per tourist season.Overall it was fun walking inside these dense forests with cool breeze and colorful flowers all around. Some unique trees and plants in forest made this trek more interesting. We also shot some videos but never downloaded... Let's see when we would be able to share those.Although the trek was as easy easy as we had expected. It took much more time than what we were told. Probably local folks reach the lake from Jalori Pass in 45 minutes, but it took 1.5 hr for us to reach the lake from Jalori Pass. There were few ups and downs which took more time than the plain routes. After first 30 minutes of walk, we were exposed to wonderful mountain ranges. Each of these mountain ranges had different magic. Some of them were covered with snow, few were completely rocky with no grass or snow and others were covered by dense forests. It was sunny day but clouds were also playing games with us. At one point of time, we were scared that it's going to rain and there is no way to hide ourselves.Slowly these clouds covered whole sky and suddenly it was very cold out there. Some of us were wearing shorts and T-Shirts :) .. But enthusiasm about reaching Sirolsar Lake was awesome. Two folks from the group reached the place in 1 Hr, while others took more than 1.5 Hrs.Sunlight was welcomes back with some songs and dance in the forest. Whole journey was quite joyful with these interesting folks. We sang lots of folk songs from Shimla Region and I still remember few lines of 'Kaliaro Hando...' . In fact, after this trip Rohit tested me twice and I passed with good scores :)This whole trek from Jalori Pass to Sirolsar Lake was very beautiful. At times, we passed through dense forests and then reached some places with deep valleys covered with green grass & colorful flowers. Cattle roaming here n there around our paths, although we could not figure out the owner of those cows. There was no village on the way and no sounds, which could indicate any habitation. At times, clouds were literally chasing us and those moments were most beautiful moments of this trek. At times visibility reduced to 1 meter only. On hills, this is very usual scenario and it's very frequent during winters. During this we met some tourists from US who were coming back from the lake. They looked very happy and also showed some photographs. On asking the remaining distance for us, they smiled and asked us to keep walking :) ... They were carrying camping stuff as well and probably stayed at Sirolsar lake last night.I am most tired person is the group and all of these folks were motivating me continuously :) ... Somehow energy was very low on that day. In above photograph, everyone is looking at me and asking to move fast. I love this colorful photograph with priceless expressions on these faces :)After walking around an hour, we hit a place with some ruins of cottages. It looked like an old village, where none lives now. Most of these houses were made up of mud-bricks and wood and there was hardly any strength in these. But we were happy to locate a place where we could hide in case of cloud-showers :) ... Sirolsar Lake was near now. Some of the houses were strategically built under huge rocks which were very well tied with hills. Overall it looked very exciting, but not sure how it would feel to live in such places with no access to daily-use stuff and very isolated from rest of the world. After reaching back Jalori Pass, we asked a shopkeeper about these houses and he told something very strange which was hard to digest. He said that a community called Gujjars own this village and land around this area belongs to them. But most of the time, they travel with their cattle. Each family own approximately 300 goats, few horses, dogs etc. They keep traveling during most of the time during an year and come back to this place in summers. Every year, they reconstruct these house and keep the budget low as they always know that place is temporary.Again clouds were showing their magic, but we kept climbing.Again folks waiting for me, as I was the last person in this group. Apart from tiredness, there were other reasons as well :) ... My Camera also needs time to observe things around the place and capture the ones having some story. After crossing a very dense forest and few valleys, we reached Sirolsar Lake with a small temple on it's side. At first glance it looked small, but after a while we got to know about the actual size of this lake and magical beauty around it.As you can see that water in this lake was crystal clear and whole lake looked like a huge mirror. There is a saying about Sirolsar Lake that if leaves from surroundings come inside this lake, birds come and pick them out to keep the lake clear like this. Don't know how true it is, but surely it was surprising to see this lake clear even when surrounded with lots of trees on adjacent hills.I also googled about this lake but got very few links with relevant information. During this search I found a link with some interesting photographs of this lake. Frozen Sirolsar Lake can be seen at http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/travelogues-north-india-f61/trip-jalori-pass-sirolsar-lake-t621 At this photograph, it can be seen that during winters Sirolsar lake freezes and anyone can easily walk on top of it. I wish to plan another trip to Jalori Pass and Sirolsar Lake in Winters. A silhouette of temple at Sirolsar Lake, Himachal Pradesh, INDIAHere exactly this temple looks like. This is a typical architecture of temples you see in Shimla, Kullu and Manali regions of Himachal Pradesh. There is a very famous temple in middle of Manali town, which is completely made up of wood and estimated cost of the temple was in crores and it is hard to digest the fact that such a huge money is invested on that temple, which is very small in size.Luckily there was a small shop near Sirolar Lake, where we could have some tea and biscuits. I think he also had arrangements for maggi n all. Rates were quite decent as compared to the hard work required to bring all raw material to this place. We suggested him to charge more from tourists. At least he had proper right to charge 10 rs for tea.Closer look to the shop and shopkeeper at Sirolsar Lake. He is the only person who lives here at Sirolsar Lake.Rohit Sharma having some chit-chat with this only entrepreneur @ Sirolsar Lake. Media people are generally curious about all the facts like the place he belongs to, how much he earns in a month and what exactly is the daily schedule he follows etc.It was time to come back after a short break at Sirolsar Lake. Lot of other things happened at Lake, which can be described by a video embedded in the last.Sunset hues were visible in the sky when we reached Jalori Pass and we were quite late to reach our next destination, but everyone was quite happy after this trek to Sirolsar Lake from Jalori Pass.

PHOTO JOURNEY of Mount Taranaki, New Zealand by Bharat Sharma

After wonderful Photo Journeys like 'Breathtaking helicopter flights exposing the magnificent views of the pristine alpine environment in the AorakiMount Cook World Heritage Park - By BHARAT SHARMA' and 'Bay Of Islands', here is another one from Mount Taranaki, which is again one of the main places in New Zealand to visit. Let's check out this lastest Photo Journey from Bharat's Travelling Camera...Mount Taranaki or Mount Egmont is an active but quiescent strato volcano in the Taranaki region of west coast of New Zealand's North Island. Although the mountain is more commonly referred to as Taranaki it has two names under the alternative names policy of the New Zealand Geographic Board. The 2520 meters high mountain is one of the most symmetrical volcanic cones in the world. There is a secondary cone.... Because of its resemblance to Mount Fuji, Taranaki provided the backdrop for the movie The Last Samurai. (Courtney - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Taranaki)Here is a link which tells very well about the activities one can plan while in Mount Tarnaki - http://www.taranaki.info/visit/content.php/page/taranaki-s-top-50-must-do-experiencesThis mountain is a source of more than 49 rivers and water-streams...It's a botanically unique area containing a wide variety of vegetation from sub-tropical semi-coastal forests in the Kaitake Ranges through to sub-alpine herb fields...Many bird species can also be found in the forests surrounding the mountain...Taranaki issues a challenge that some who are tempted to climb... In summers, a climb to the summit requires a day approximately... and a good level of fitness is something that is required... However, the mountain sits close to the Tasman Sea and is subject to rapid and violent weather changes. Many who attempt the climb are less than adequately equipped. A combination of these factors has meant that Egmont has seen more climbing fatalities than any other mountain in New Zealand. (For more in this regard, check out http://www.summitpost.org/mt-egmont-taranaki/152168A wonderful view of Mount Taranaki through huge sea which looks very small as compared to this Mountain !!!Here is one of the drmamatic photograph of Mount Taranaki, which is clicked from a plane. Check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/timboss81/6352143584/While reading more on internet about Mount Taranaki, we found another cool article describing various places to stay in Taranaki region with some decent options for climbers and botany lovers. Stone standing out brilliantly through curved sand...Water movement over this sand has given it a dramatic texture and helped in overall composition of this photograph...There are three roads leading part-way up the mountain. The highest is to East Egmont plateau, with a viewing platform and parking facilities for the ski-field. It lies at the transition between sub-alpine scrub and alpine herb fields. Here ends the journey to Mount Taranaki by Bharat Sharma

Lunar Eclipse 2011 @ Jantar Mantar, Delhi, INDIA (10th Dec, 2011)

There are have been lot of PHOTO JOURNEYs from Jantar Matar in Delhi, but this one is little different from all others. Most of the others are from daytime or evenings and this time we had special permissions from Archeological Survey of India. So let's check out this Photo Journey from Eclipse Evening on 10th December 2011...Almost every monument in Delhi well lit after sunset, but unfortunately all of them get closed before sunset. Some of Photo Enthusiasts from Delhi College of Arts had arranged permissions on Lunar Eclipse day (10th December, 2011). They had been divided into groups to cover various monuments in Delhi. It was very well planned project and everyone was all set with their Cameras, Lenses, Tripods and Laptops etc.We had to actually go to Humayun Tomb, but all permission papers were with us. So came to Jantar Mantar for handling them to relevant folks and move ahead. The group at Jantar Mantar needed some help in setup, as they were not very well versed with the graphs of moon movement. Ankit spent some time setting all the things right and in the mean time I clicked these photographs at Yantra Mandir of Delhi. While clicking this photograph I realized that we are already for reaching the actual spot, where we were appointed. Anyway, things were almost done at Jantar Mantar and we quickly moved towards Humayun Tomb. The Jantra Mantra is located in the modern city of New Delhi, INDIA. It actually consists of 13 architectural astronomy instruments which were built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. This Jantar Mantar was built from 1724....There are five Jantar Mantars in India and were constructed during same time. The basic purpose of Jantar Mantar was to compile astronomical tables and to predict the times on the basis of movements of the sun, moon and planets. Some of these purposes nowadays would be classified as astronomy.
