Panchmarhi Jheel with Travelling Camera @ Madhaya Pradesh, INDIA

Panchmarhi Jheel is located a few kilometers away from the Panchmarhi main town. You can hire a Jeep to get there. Unlike the other popular lakes, this lake is completely uncommercialized. The only commercial activity being the selling of tickets for boat ride. The waters are silvery.

We decided to take the road less travelled and went for a walk around the lake instead of taking the boat ride.

Reechch Garh with Travelling Camera @ Panchmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, INDIA

At the outskirts of Panchmarhi, a quaint hill station in Madhya Pradesh, you can find huge rocks that hide big and small caves. This place is commonly known as Reechch Garh and local folk tales associate it with Jamwanth, the legendary reechch who joined forces with Lord Ram against Ravan.

In recent past, it is supposed to have been the home of many wild animals, including black bear. There are two main caves. One is gigantic and the other so narrow that you almost need to crawl through it.

Pandavs seem to have walked all across India during their 13 years exile. All states have pandav gufas or temples constructed by them. The gufa at panchmarhi is spectacular. The massive igneous rock has been cut and carved beautifully.

Journey to Haridwar - Har ki Paudi

During this visit, I made some progress in my acquaintance with Ganga. From dipping my feet into the ice cold water, I moved on to venturing into the river and taking a dip (Dubki). One section of Ganga was quite shallow and the water was waist high so there was no risk of getting caught in the strong currents.

Busy route of Rohtang Pass, which leads to heavy Traffic Jams in Summers

The road through the Kullu Valley, past Manali and over the Rohtang Pass to Keylong, and Lahul and on to Ladakh, has become very busy during the summer months as an alternate a military route following the Kargil Conflict in 1999 in addition to tensions in Kashmir. Traffic jams are common as military vehicles, trucks, and goods carriers try to navigate the tight roads and rough terrain, compounded by, snow and ice at certain points and the large number of tourists vehicles. There are a lot of dhabas or Indian-style food shacks and eateries along the way.
