Amala's Programme for Theatre (APT) - An Inspiring initiative with great vision around Theatre, Art & Culture

I have been following Amala Rai for quite some time and especially her initiative and Amala's Program for Theatre (APT). Her idea is to prepare theatre teachers in India and provide opportunity for each kid to learn & practice theatre. and the vision doesn't stop there & is much grander than I can articulate. I may not be the person to talk about Theatre, but what I feel is that theatre is not only about acting but lot more than that. Through theatre one becomes stronger & versatile physically, mentally as well as emotionally. When you do theatre, you do various exercises, learn music, dance and develop varied skills to keep control on your senses & use them how time/situation/role/play demands. It's kind of tapasya which teaches you a lot of things on the way, which help you in life.

Amla mam with Sunil Sir have residence in Himachal. And they have started involving village children around their place and recently did a play with village children at their place. That's huge and the vision is much bigger than that, which you can check through video below.

I also belong to a small village in Himachal and always wanted to do something around art in my village. Have been thinking for many years but didn't do much, while Amala mam is passionately trying to provide all possible opportunities to kids around her house in Himachal. This is another reason to follow her that hopefully some day I will be able to act on my ideas and thoughts.

....

When I am compiling this blogpost, I know I don't have a structure here but hope readers will understand what I am trying to share through this post. Idea is make people aware about theatre and initiative like APT.

Recently I was discussing something on these lines in my family and specially with our nephew. I was just checking if his school offer theatre classes or do they have any theatre related club. Similarly I wish my niece's school in Dalhousie had theatre as an option. Many schools don't even offer theatre as an elective and main reason is that we don't have enough people who can teach theatre in school. Through APT, Amala mam wants to build a great pipeline of theatre teachers for India so that schools don't need to worry about availability of teachers.

Have you heard someone saying that Theatre is also a therapy. Amala mam touched it a bit in the video above and I have experienced it through my hundred of visits to NSD in Delhi. I feel a very different vibe from most of the actors of NSD, which is hard for me define.

Without making it more lengthy, I will highly encourage to follow APT through following links and see how you can help this initiative & our current as well as next generations.
