Sardar Sarovar Dam is very close to the famous Statue of Unity in Gujrat state of India. This whole area developed so well and now dam like Sardar Sarovar can also be seen from close-by building. Sardar Sarovar Dam is close to Statue of Unity and if you have ticket for whole tour, you can board AC bus from one of the gates of Statue of Unity & go to the viewpoint which offers great views of Sardar Sarovar Dam. Above photograph shows the view of bus interiors.

Above photograph shows the grand view of Sardar Sarovar Dam. This view reminded me of Bhakhra Dam which is Himachal Pradesh state of India. But there is a major difference. No one is allowed to stop near the Dam. There is a good stretch of road which is monitored by security personnel. We were wondering why there is no security concern at Sardar Sarovar Dam and why so many tourists are allowed to go close to the dam view-point.

Valley of Flowers around Statue of Unity in Gujrat is curated pretty well with variety of flowering plants as well as interesting installations like peacocks, tigers etc. Above photograph shows Peackcock installation in Valley of Flowers along with Statue of Unity in the background. The Statue if quite far from this park, while it looks very close in above photograph.

Between Statue of Unity and Sardar Sarovar Dam, Gujrat Tourism has developed a valley of flowers which overlooks both dam and the statue. All these 3 things are in radius of 4-5 kilometers. It was so fantastic to see Gujrat Tourism developing this area in a very good way and in future I am sure they would be able to manage good amount of footfall with ease and not creating traffic chaos on roads around these places.

Main places to see & Top things to do around Dalhousie : Stunning Hill Station in Himalayan State of India

  Dalhousie is one of the most popular Hill Stations in Himachal  and there is lot to explore around Dalhousie. This is small and very well maintained town in Chamba region of Himachal Pradesh . This Photo Journey shares some of the exciting places around Chamba and how to plan a good one day tour through Khajjiar, Chamba & Chamera etc. CHAMERA HYDROLIC PROJECT Chamera Hydroelectric Project is located in Banikhet, 7 kms from Dalhousie. The water body near the lake is very scenic and is a popular boating spot. Chamera Dam is around 40 kilometers from Chamba Town. It takes approximately 1.5 hrs to reach the place is road condition is good. Overall it’s a little dry terrain as compared to Dalhousie and Khajjiar. And temperature also goes up as we go towards Chamera Dam.  As you move out from Chamba town, you follow Ravi river for some time and then take right. After 45 minutes of drive, you get a glimpse of Chemera Dam.
