After sunset boating experience at popular Dawki River with transparent water in Meghalaya (India) - With views of Bangladesh villages on other side of the river

Dauki river on India-Bangladesh border is known for its crystal clear water through which you can easily see the base of the river. When we were in Meghalaya, we wanted to be there and enjoy boat ride around Dauki river, although rains changed our plans in a big way and we reached the river late in evening. Above photograph shows the lighting condition around Dauki river when we reached.

Initial plan to visit Dauki from Shillong and then go to Mawlynnong, but continuous rains in the morning disrupted that plan.  Shillong to Dauki is also approximately 80 kilometers but not in same direction. There is a diversion at Pongtung. Dauki is on other side and it's approx 35 kilometers from this diversion.

Because of continuous rains, our tour operator suggested that it would not be worth going to Dauki as water may have got muddy due to rains and our group would not be able to do boating. We headed to Mawlynnong living root bridge. After reaching the place, we parked our vehicles at a designated parking area and then had to walk for about 10 mins. Since this part of the country sees more rains than usual, stones were little slippery so everyone needed to watch their steps to ensure safely. It was continuously drizzling.

Boating at Dawki costs you 1200 rs for 1 hour ride in the river. Water is really clear around the edges, but as you go deep you loose the clarity.  Evenings see relatively better weather around Dawki river, so boating in the evening will be amazing. Supposedly best time to visit Dawki river is between Oct & Jan as water will be clear during this time of the year.
