Team outing to learn Decoupage Art by Indique Arts

We love making our team outings special and this time we chose to learn another new Art Form. In the past, we had outings to explore Segway tours around Lutyens Delhi, Claying workshop and some fun games in Escape rooms. This time, it was about Decoupage Art-form. It sounded very difficult in the beginning but with step-by-step guidance by Indique Arts, each participant could achieve awesome results which you can see in the post below.

Above photograph shows a sample of Decoupage creations we made yesterday and each art-piece is also shown below individually. Do take the time to go through each and guess how exactly these creations are made out of bottles.

Decoupage (as per wikipedia) is the art of decorating an object by gluing coloured paper cutouts onto it in combination with special paint effects & other decorative elements. Commonly, an object like a small box or an item of furniture is covered by cutouts from magazines or from purpose-manufactured papers. Each layer is sealed with varnishes (often multiple coats) until the "stuck on" appearance disappears and the result looks like painting or inlay work.

Smita, our instructor from Indique Arts, took us through a presentation about the art form in her own style and then explained the process we had to follow during the workshop. We were shown some examples so that everyone can think about different designs to implement.

Soon after this we started unpacking the stuff which Indique Arts team had brought. Our venue was sponsored by Bharti. Smita & team brought 3 big bags of the stuff required to create Decoupage art-pieces. Stuff like cleaned bottles, Jars, big boxes of colors (of various shades), designer tissue papers, different kinds of brushes for multiple stages of the art, decorative stuff, cloth-pieces for each artist for regular cleaning of brushes/hands, containers, glue, varnish, scissors, cutters, cotton buds, colorful threads/strings etc.. The list was certainly too long to remember. I wonder how Indique Arts manages to organize these things so well.

It was a team of 3 Artists to guide and support us to make progress in each stage of the art creation.

In this blog, I don't intend to share the process as that's not my expertise but I can certainly share that doing it properly on your own needs a lot of effort in terms of arranging all relevant stuff, variety and then focusing on all the intricacies of the process.

Everyone was busy with their creations for more than 3 hours and all of us enjoyed it thoroughly. Post workshop we spent more time together and concluded with special evening. Not to miss diverse chats & singing sessions.

Thank you so much for such kind and generous words. You guys were an outstanding team. We were discussing that in such a short time, how every single person managed to finish their piece! And we're talking about a large group and diverse talents! It was exceptional. We were really very happy to do this and look forward to interacting over different art forms with this set of folks again.

Thank you from all of us at Indique :-)
