Neary Lagoon Park, Santa Cruz, California (USA)

While at Santa Cruz in California and you are done with sea food, walk around the beach, some rides and interested in doing something special, walk towards Neary Lagoon. It's a beautiful place at walkable distance from Santa Cruz Broadwalk. This post shares few photographs from Nearby Lagoon, it's landscapes and the colourful birds around beautiful apartments around the lagoon.

There are multiple floating boardwalks around the lagoon and I loved walking around this space surrounding by clear water and colourful birds. High green grass around these water bodies provides space for lot of shy birds and if you luck & have patience you can see some of them flying around.

Being a wetland this also attracts migratory birds. It's very relaxing to walk around this lagoon and watch these colourful creatures. They love hopping around the lagoon and at times cross close to your body while flying. Some of these birds take shorter flights to hop between different areas of the lagoon.

There are very few places where pets are not allowed and this is one of the places Dogs are not allowed. Interestingly lot of restaurants in Santa Cruz don't allow pets. There has to be some specific logic behind that I saw so many places around Santa Cruz, but not sure what exactly is that.

Neary Lagoon is certainly a brilliant place for birders to visit. We saw few of them walking with their binoculars and telephoto lenses. We didn't spend much time to stop and watch some of the hidden birds.

If you liked this post and found it helpful, I would request you to follow these things when traveling -

1. Manage your waste well and don’t litter Use dustbins.
2. Tell us if you went to a place and found it hard to locate a dustbin.
3. Avoid bottle waters in hills. Usually you get clean water in hills and water bottles create lot of mess in our ecosystem.
4. Say big no to plastic and avoid those unhealthy snacks packed in plastic bags. Rather buy fruits.
5. Don't play loud blaring music in forests of jungle camps. You are a guest in that ecosystem and disturbing the locals (humans and animals) is not polite
