While in Redwood City for business trip, we also visited this Winery for offsite. During the day, we had set of meetings, discussions and some moments to explore the Winery during the lunch time. More than this specific winery I loved this Woodside area. This post shares some of the mobile clicked photographs from the Winery along with details around the wines they make and this part of San Francisco Bay Area in California.
While we were driving towards the Woodside town of California, we loved each moment of this ride. And as we reached close of the place, we had clouds on both of the sides of the road and it seemed like we are not riding a car but probably sitting in a flight. Clouds were pretty dense and crossing through the high mountains of Woodside.
It was first time I was visiting Woodside, which is a small incorporated town in San Mateo County of California state in United States. This is one of the known places for wineries in San Francisco Peninsula. It's not very populated area in Bay Area and much greener than others around the freeways.

While driving through the hills of Woodside, we saw various spaces on the way with horses and is among the wealthiest communities in the United States.
Woodside town is located on the Rancho Cañada de Raymundo Mexican Land grant. Woodside is considered oldest English-speaking settlement in the southern part of the San Francisco Peninsula.

While taking a tour of Thomas Fogarty Winery in Woodside, I asked one of the tour guide about wineries in Bay Area and how they are different from Wineries in Napa Valley, because most of the folks who visit Bay Area from outside tend to visit Napa Valley for wines. The girl smiled and said that many of the better vineyards are not in napa but other regions of San Francisco Bay Area.
As of today, Woodside is among the wealthiest small towns in the United States. The small business district includes - a few restaurants, a grocery store, a saloon, a hardware and horse tack store, a home and garden store, an Aveda hair salon, a cleaner, and a post office. Outside of the business district are the Stillheart Institute educational event center, Skywood Trading Post and the Mountain Terrace event center.

I found this small branch of a neighboring plants and found it worth clicking on this wooden platform of Thomas Fogarty Winery. Although I don't know the name of these leaves and the plant these belong to.
Interesting all the Vineyards I have visited so far are very beautiful and they are maintained pretty well. Usually the staff is also very knowledgeable. It can be because of the fact that as guests, we only meet staff who are best at handling guests and have set protocols in terms of information to be shared and how. I had very short time in hand to explore it well, but there were many times when I felt like clicking lot of photographs.
Woodside has a variety of habitat types including California oak woodland and riparian zones. There is considerable biodiversity present, Woodside being within the California Floristic Province. Notable species present include the rare and endangered species Acanthomintha duttonii, the San Mateo Thornmint. It is also home to Huddart County Park, which is accessible by authorized motor vehicles, pedestrians, and horses on Kings Mountain Road. Check out more about Woodside here.

Above photograph shows one of the main deck at Thomas Fogarty Winery & Vineyards. We had our conference room near this place. The farm you see just below the deck is probably 15% of the whole size of this grape-farm.

Woodside has few more wineries. Some of the few restaurants of Redwood neighborhood include the Michelin starred Village Pub, Buck's of Woodside restaurant, known among Silicon Valley entrepreneurs as the location where many VC investment deals have been signed, and the Firehouse Bistro.
I loved these patterns of grape farms in Thomas Fogarty Winery & Vineyards. More than that the grandness of the place and how carefully these plants are grown in this huge land around the hills. Maintaining these farms on hills is not simpler. During the tour I also learned that good sun light is one of the important factor to get good crop and at times, folks have to wait for months to pluck the fruits from these plants.
While coming back from Woodside towards Redwood City, we took a stop at Alice's restaurant which is popular for it's burgers. Personally speaking I didn't find anything special in the burger I tried there. But certainly the location looked good and the place is popular because of some of the few eating options on this hill for bikers riding around these hills.

- Don't play loud blaring music in forests of jungle camps. You are a guest in that ecosystem and disturbing the locals (humans and animals) is not polite.
