The Refuge, San Carlos - A recommended place for beer tasting

During one of the recent visits to San Francisco Bay Area, I was staying in San Carlos which is close to Redwood City. During this 2 week stay, I landed in San Carlos Downtown market multiple times. During one of the visits, a friend took me to Refuge for another round of beer. It was pretty calm when we hit the place and gradually whole space changed as it started getting a little dark.

There are 3 kinds of seatings you can chose at Refuge - indoor seating, tables outside in fresh air and high tables around the bar counter. We chose bar counter as we didn't intend to spend lot of time there. It's a small space but beautifully done. I found it a good place to hang out with friends or your loved ones. Even if you are alone, there is a possibility to make new friends over few mugs of beer.

Refuge is located in San Carlos downtown and on one of the main streets where you find some other awesome restaurants.

More from USA...

Refuge has great variety of beers and at first glance it was hard for me to decide from a huge menu of beers. Apart from various types of beers, Refuge also offers some interesting samplers. On my first visit, I tried few samplers & in next few visits I preferred ales. Words can't really deines

And the place is not only about beer, they serve awesome food as well. Here are some of the notable things about Refuge.

1. Sandwich size is huge and one can feed 2. Avg cost of sandwich was $18.
2. Fresh food & especially fries are awesome (Are you wondering what can be special about fries?)
3. Loved their Pastrami sandwiches.

Without stretching it much, I would recommend you to try out the place if you are around San Carlos downtown and write back in comments about your experience of the place.

If you liked this post and found it helpful, I would request you to follow these things when traveling -

  1. Manage your waste well and don’t litter
  2. Use dustbins. Tell us if you went to a place and found it hard to locate a dustbin.
  3. Avoid bottle waters in hills. Usually you get clean water in hills and water bottles create lot of mess in our ecosystem.
  4. Say big no to plastic and avoid those unhealthy snacks packed in plastic bags. Rather buy fruits.
  5. Don't play loud blaring music in forests of jungle camps. You are a guest in that ecosystem and disturbing the locals (humans and animals) is not polite
