Insta-feed to inspire you to know more about Kinnaur & plan your next Trip

Recently during my Spiti Road-Trip I met Sam, who showed us various places in Kinnaur on the way and I realized that how less people know about Kinnaur and Spiti is very highly rated in overall travel scenario. Kinnaur has a lot to explore in terms of natural beauty, local culture, food etc. Over the years, Sam has compiled a brilliant Insta account with information about various places to Kinnaur to visit and finer details in terms of seasons, weather, fairs, temples etc. I found it relevant for blog readers, as all of us look for inspiring details to plan our trips and coming from genuine people is an important aspect. Sam belongs to Kinnaur and he has been very careful while compiling details on his profile. So do check out these photographs along with some details about Kinnaur and feel free to ask questions in the comments section.

Photo by :- @vipul_xda . The Kinnauri Temple architecture is different from rest of the country. The stone - wood combination used in the building is not only pleasing for the eyes but also protection against the harsh climate 😇 . Kinnaur comes on the way to Spiti when going from Shimla and it's not a place but a district of Himachal Pradesh state in India. Rekong Peo is main town in kinnaur, which has most of it's administrative offices. Kalpa is a close by place which is famous for it's natural beauty, Kinner Kailash and some of the scariest roads around.

Most of the place in Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh get snowfall and landscapes vary a lot. There are places, which are lush green and regions which are cold deserts. There are some areas which don't see rain and it clouds want to do anything, they can only think of snow flakes.

Places like Sangla & Chitkul are green, while regions like Nako are dry but surrounded by snow capped hills. Kinnaur has diverse landscapes and Density of trees goes down as you keep moving towards Spiti Valley. Vegetation goes down as we head towards Nako from Rekong Peo.

Dressing style of Kinnaur is equally diverse. You would see all modern fashions in the towns of Kinnaur And traditional dresses of Kinnaur are appreciated very well during weddings and festivities. I always want to attend a kinnauri wedding and know the rituals in better way.

Connectivity of Kinnaur is little tricky. Roads are not as good as you see in other places of Himachal Pradesh. Driving on these roads is not recommended if you have never drove in hills. There are some deluxe buses from Shimla to Rekong peo. But beyond that you need to rely on local buses. Taxi fares are pretty high within Kinnaur, so cost can be managed if you book a cab from Shimla.

...
Mountains of Kinnaur take your breath away and equally beautiful. There are plenty of treks in Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh. Kinner Kailash trek is one of the difficult one and quite popular.

Photo by :- @himalayan_refugeee . . Location :- Moorang Village ( in view Moorang fort ) , Kinnaur , Himachal Pradesh , India. . The technicolour beats! . . The fort of Moorang is a conspicuous structure which is visible from both the New and Old Hindustan-Tibet Road. Fort still has enough articles from its days of  glory to spark curiosity for its past in the visitors. Presently, it is the property of Ormig Deota and there is a watch man who lives nearby. It is a common practice in the hills to associate ancient things with the Pandavas. So, it is not surprising for a villager to associate even this fort with the Pandavas. Local people believe that the fort was built by the Pandavas who wanted to build it as an island by diverting the Satlej around it.________________ . . #himalayas #instahimachal #himachalpictures #shimlalife #wilderness #incredibleindia #photographers_of_india #indiapictures #mountains #storiesofindia #wanderlust #IAMNikon #universetoday #indianphotography #worldbestgram #bestmountainartists #beautifuldestinations #traveldiaries #natgeo #indiaunseen #travelphotography #hippieinhills #lonelyplanetindia #streetphotographyindia #streetsofindia #himalayangeographic #artofvisuals #supreme_nightshots

Photo and words by :- @sahilparashar01 . Festival at Kalpa village, Kinnaur Valley. Walking through the village to reach to the centuries old temple of Kalpa village while snow started to fall and our fingers started to go numb, the reverberating sounds of local instruments guided us towards the place where the post-holi celebrations, the mela, was still in its procession in full spirits. The Laari, enacted as females ( played also by the male members of a sect of village ), were dressed with intricate ornaments and articles, all made of gold and silver. It was astonishing when we were told that it weighed more than 20kgs alone. Laden with so much fabric and metal, they still danced monotonously to the energising music, right in the middle of this beautiful valley, as villagers and visitors alike stood around them to witness the ancient tradition and celebrate it together as the largest event of the year that happens in Kalpa village. #happiness #festival #emotions #kinnaurifestival #kinnaur#incredible_kinnaur #kalpa #celebrations #streetphotographyindia #theindianroute #i_hobbygraphy #indiatravelgram #dslrofficial #phodus_competition #lonelyplanetindia #lonelyplanet #photographers_of_india #instagram #indiapictures #_soi #_coi #myshoeboxofphotographs #portraitphotography #portrait #natgeo #himachalpradesh #natgeoyourshot #indiaclicks #agameoftones #instahimachal
