Best of Sikkim through Ankit Sood's Travelling-Camera

We have been thinking of Sikkim for a long time and recently Ankit's photographs made us plan this soon. In near future, we will bring some refreshing Photo Journeys from beautiful state of India - Sikkim. Let's check out some interesting sights through Ankit's Photographs here.
Above photograph shows Sandakphu...

Above photograph shows a beautiful Kunchenjunga Range around Sikkim state of India. Kangchenjunga is the third highest mountain in the world and we all are very well aware of this fact from our childhood. This peak is at the elevation of 8500+ meters in a section of the Himalayas called Kangchenjunga Himal which has Tamur River on one side and Teesta River on other. These peaks are on one side of the Indian state of Sikkim and has Nepal on other end. Kunchenjunga is considered as highest peak in India. The range is also known as Five Treasures of Snow after its five high peaks, and has always been worshiped by the people of Darjeeling and Sikkim. Memecho Lake on the Zuluk-Natula Road - A Beautiful lake... Ankit wants to return back here for camping by its side one day !

Omnipresent Peaks all over Sikkim !

But Himalayas open their heart who works hard to reach the viewpoint !

Dzongu, North Sikkim. : This hidden area took my heart away. Went to the Tholung Kishong Trek here with about 50 Lepcha students ! Dzongu is a triangular region in North Sikkim. This place is bounded by the Teesta River in one side, Tholung Chu River on other side. Dzongu is located around the boundary of Kangchenjunga Biosphere Reserve.

Dzongu is established as an official reserve for the Lepcha people of Sikkim. The Lepchas have strong ties with the nature and have lived here for many centuries. An understanding of their culture, customs and language helps to foster an appreciation of the beautiful mountains, deep forests, and the emerald-colored Teesta River. As of now this part of the state sees little tourist activity and hence seems almost untouched. Rice fields and Cardamom plantations can be seen all around this place, which enhances the beauty. Zuluk... East Sikkim would remain one of my best journeys into this hidden area. Even Indian require permits. Enter from Singtam and exit at NathuLa - ...beautiful journey !

Tsoka in trek between Yuksum & Goechela ! Trekking in Sikkim requires plenty of stamina ! — in Sikkim, India.

Trekking along the Sikkim Nepal Border !

North Sikkim- Just above Lachung is beautiful especially with the experience of trout fishing and having a hot water bath in a natural sulphur spring !

Monks in Dzongu!

Yuksom - West Sikkim- On my first Dzongri -Goeche la trek ! Its just amazing ! One can even cross over from the Goeche La into the Dzongu Valley !

'Sikkim is awarded as India’s cleanest state with the most innovative tourism project. Sikkim as a State has set new benchmarks for responsible travel in the country. Check-box based sightseeing has rapidly made way for sustainable community-based tourism in less developed areas, while eco-friendly policies have lent new vigour to the virginal Himalayan wilderness that drapes the region’s mountains. Food-wise, there’s news too. Organic farming is the new mantra in Sikkim and is being promoted in a big way. Much of the produce available in local markets is already gunk-free, and the government proposes to convert Sikkim into a fully organic state very soon. And with a new airport scheduled to open near Gangtok in 2014, you can now shave off several hours of transit time and fly in directly from major Indian metros.' - by Lonely Planet

Sikkim has breathtaking beauty. Definitely on my list. From the write-up it is not clear, when is the best time to visit and what time should be avoided.
