Some tips by Monica -

1.    Soak ‘Oatmeal Chewy’ in half a bowl of cold milk and let them dissolve. Add a few freshly chopped walnuts and you have a healthy bowl of cereal for breakfast. Tip: A spoon of honey could be added to satisfy that craving for something sweet. 

2.    Cut the Pepper crackers into half, top them with thinly cut slices of cheese or low fat cottage-cheese and top up with a mix of finely chopped tomatoes & onion. Garnish it with a drop of tomato sauce and a coriander leaf. You have a ready to pop-in snack. For the very weight conscious, this cracker could be served with homemade salsa dip.

Thank you VJ for introducing 'SmartEats'.

A couple of years back, me and a friend had this golden idea of having a healthy snack. So we did some research, did some maths around cost, sourcing etc. Now to validate this idea, we spoke to a close friend who is in hospitality industry. He runs cafes and canteens at various hospitals. He was gracious enough to offer his shelf-space but he warned us that it wont work. His theory was that a snack has to be delicious (unlike a regular meal, where you are ok taking a healthy non-tasty item) and thats the reason chips/nuts etc are successful. If it is healthy then most likely it is non-fried, less-salty and hence the task of making it tasty is much more difficult. If someone can genuinely make a healthy snack which is fun to eat then only it would work.

He also suggested that we should go and visit this 'Healthy Snacks Shop' in Kamla Nagar (near DU) to learn more. And that we should hurry up, because that shop is going to be shut-down soon :-).

So good luck for SmartEats, hope it works well and our food habits get better.
Nandan - I can clearly understand your friend's opinion. In fact, before trying such snacks, I always thought that something which is healthy, can't be tasty. But new innovations happening in this area are really phenomenal.

For last two years, I came across many such brands, although not every brand is able to offer the right mix. but definitely many of food experts are experimenting a lot around the same in India. I personally know some Food Bloggers who are working with international brands to innovate healthy eatables w.r.t. Indian tastes & preferences.

I am one of the Co-Founders of SmartEats and I whole heartedly agree with what you are saying. "Delicious" is a value that is very dear to everyone and shall not be compromised. SmartEats whole endeavour is towards providing Delicious, Unique and Healthy snacks. The snacks are extremely Yummy but at the same time 100% Natural, Low GI, Whole grains, 0% Trans Fats, High in vitamins and minerals and therefore healthy.

"Healthy is no longer boring!" is our motton. You have to try it once :)
