The Shan of Hyderabadi Nawabs - Falaknuma Palace

Falaknuma Palace:This is a not-to-be-missed not-a-regular-tourist destination in Hyderabad. The palace was built by Nawab Vikar-ul-Ulmara, the then Prime Minister of Hydera

The palace is on top of a hill and adorns all luxury and royalty of the Nawab’s. The hotel-turned-palace is now maintained by the taj Group of hotels Resorts. The Royal family had personally supervised the palace renovation and they come by to stay in the hotel every couple of years.bad.
The below picture is the entrance to the grand hotel!

Till last year one could go to Falaknuma Palace just for dining. As part of the entrance fees you would get a guided tour of the hotel, and would get to see the luxuries in which the then Nawab’s lived.

A personal ‘baggi’ of course being one of the smaller perks of being a Nawab :)

The Palace is in the shape of a Scorpion - the sun-sign of Nawab Vikar-ul-Umra, the Prime Minister of Hyderabad in 1884

Falak-numa literally means "Like the Sky" or "Mirror of the Sky" in Urdu

The palace overlooks the whole of Hyderabad city and presents a wide view of the city. I It’s a marvelous view! And gets much better at night when the city lights seem like twinkling stars!

Saying goes that the Nawab killed 30 ‘Sher’s and hence was coined the term ‘Tees-Mar-Khan’

Of course a much expensive place, but certainly worth a visit to relive the luxuries of the ‘Nawabi Shan’!
