Whenever we read/talk about Chandigarh, there are few popular places which are obvious - Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sector-17 market etc. But places like Leisure Valley are hardly mentioned in main places to explore in Chandigarh city or green parks of the city. This Photo Journey shares more about Leisure Valley, it's timings & other interesting places around it.
Leisure Valley is close to rose garden. We walked from Rock Garden to Leisure Valley and headed towards rose garden. Natural History Museum comes on the way from Leisure Valley to Rose Garden. It's a nice walk through high trees and peaceful road. Chandigarh city has separate pathways for bicycles and cycle-rickshaws.
Like other green parks of Chandigarh town, Leisure valley is also very well maintained with green trees, floral plants and well paved tracks. Unlike Rose Garden or Shanti Kunj, Leisure valley has various types of trees which gives it a forest kind of environment.
When you walk from Leisure Valley to Rose Garden, you need to walk through Natural History Museum and this tank can be seen on road-side. Lot of kids come to this place from Rose Garden to get clicked with this army tanks.
Sector-16 of Chandigarh is located around all green landscapes and overall Chandigarh is one of the few Indian cities which is planned in a way that it has lot of green areas.
Weather is Chandigarh is mostly influenced by weather in Himachal Pradesh, but due to these green landscapes summers are not that bad. Whenever there are rains in hills, weather changes in the city. City has various other institutions which help you connect with art, culture and history.
Anyone who visits Chandigarh, definitely get impressed by the planning done to create and maintain this city. Almost every red-light junction has CCTV cameras. Local transportation is clean and convenient. Chandigarh has AC buses running between the sectors and apart from that shared autos make your life very convenient.
Above photograph is clicked just outside the Leisure valley. There was a small kiosk who was making bands from these. I hope that Chandigarh remains such awesome and green place always. Hope to explore new green landscapes of Chandigarh city when I visit there next time.
