Birding opportunities around Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, Uttrakhand, India

In my last post, I shared about morning walk experience of Binsar Wildlife Scatuary and the famous Zero-point. During this walk, we saw various kinds of Birds and we could capture a few in our Travellingcamera. This Photo Journey shares some of the birding photographs and few of them are clicked around KMVN Binsar. Eaurasian Jay is most common bird around Binsar hills and they look beautiful.

After great views of Snow covered peaks of Uttrakhand , a huge flock of Eurasian Jay started following us when we headed towards the forest. Soon after we realized that most of the action was happening around the sun-rays.

Most of us were walking silently and tracking the sounds of birds. Few of the us had sharp eyes to see these small birds at a distance of 100 meters. It took at least a minute to locate this bird after I was directed to see in a particular direction. One of the key to locate birds is to keep track of direction from where sounds are coming and be patient to track these wild wings.

During this walk we realized that to increase the probability of seeing birds you should keep few hours before sunrise to reach the forest. We had a very productive walk with lot of birds flying around us. There were only few branches who were lit with sunrise and rest of the forest was just gearing up for the day.

At times it gets frustrating when you fail to capture these beauties, but that's ok. Try to judge the distance and light condition and don't waste time in setting up your camera if it's hard to capture a bird. Instead enjoy the time by watching their activities.

When we were heading back towards KMVN Binsar , we came across a huge flock of sunbirds. Now the road was well lit with sunlight and all the sunbirds were roaming around the moss. They were finding something in smaller plants to eat.

Walk ended with some great moments with these super-active sunbirds. So if you are Binsar, keep a closer watch around you and I am sure that winged wonders of these forests would surprise you.
