This year in February, I, with many of my friends and colleagues from office, got a chance to visit San Francisco for a conference. The duration was of one week. It was a tightly packed schedule and we were determined to make the most out of it.
Biking was one of the agendas that was in our minds. Few people in our group had already heard good things about it. On Sunday afternoon, we started our hunt for a good and relatively cheaper shop from where we could rent the bikes.
We started our biking journey which was from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito. Fisherman's Wharf is a super fun place where you can roam around, eat and drink and enjoy in open air restaurants.
We saw a lot of people who were biking along the beach. There are separate biking tracks all along the roads which is very cool.
Here is the gang. The photographer is Sameer. :)
We saw lot of people using Segway to explore the city. We initially thought getting Segway instead of bikes, but later thought not to waste time in learning to drive it.
It was cold out in San Francisco and we had to keep up the jackets, well for the initial few kilometers. After biking on couple of uphills, we figured to get off the jackets. :)
On the way, we saw lot of open green areas where, being it a Sunday afternoon, people were chilling out with friends and families, kids playing around and enjoying the wether outside.
Whenever we reached uphill, we paused and enjoyed the view of the sea. I had never seen sky so bright with so much saturation of blue.
There were lots of stoppages along the way, where one could rest and click photographs. We saw lot of birds too who were not afraid of us. Probably they have gotten accustomed to the crowd.
Lots of private boats were parked along side the road on the sea shore.
Along the track, we saw the magnificent Golden Gate Bridge. We wanted to get to it as soon as possible.
But it was not easy, as right before the bridge we had to get past a steepest uphill which was probably the most difficult part. Most of us had to drag the bike on that hill.
But once we reached the bridge, we knew that it was worth. The view from the bridge was magnificent.
We had to reach Sausalito by around 6.00 PM so that we could get ferry back to Fisherman's Wharf along with our bikes. It was a magical view when we look back to the city from the ferry.
We also enjoyed the sunset view from ferry back to port. I think we were in luck as we were just in time to see the amazing view of sunset behind Golden Gate Bridge.
We landed near Bay bridge when we got off the ferry. We drove around in the city and finally reached to the shop to return our bikes.
So next time you are in San Francisco, don't forget to go Biking. Its super fun. I had never enjoyed a bike trip that much.
