This weekend LIteratureStudio conducted a Creative Writing workshop at IIT Delhi's Literary festival - 'Literati'. It was a workshop on Flash Fiction and there were 30+ participants although idea was to keep the strength below 25 in a batch. This Photo Journey shares some interesting experiences from the workshop and how IIT techies think about creative writing.
I was accompanying Vibha, who was conducting the workshop. It was a good opportunity for me to know about Flash Fiction and learn about tips to write Flash Fiction in creative way. The workshop started with quick round of introduction of students and LiteratureStudio staff. During introduction round, we realized that good number of students were from other institutions/colleges as well. In Introduction, everyone shared their goal to learn about Flash Fiction or Creative Writing. Many of the folks wanted to know about the process to follow for publishing a book and it seems many of the IITians plan to write a book now. Many of the folks are already doing journalistic writing and wanted to explore fiction.
Most of these folks were very enthusiastic about the workshop. Many of them were already into writing and few were there to explore new possibilities to get into Creative Writing.
Workshop started with basic introduction to character, arena and the goal. After few interesting discussion, everyone wrote a single line story having a character, arena and the goal. Some pretty good results were shared by students and there were lot of questions to put things well & carry that forward.
Without disclosing much details about the workshop, next step was to understand other elements of Flash fiction which makes the whole story complete.
At the end most of the students shared their story which was built during the workshop and most of the folks did a great job. All of the students would be sending their stories to Literature Studio Team and best 3 stories would be published, so you can check winning stories http://literaturestudio.in/ after 1st Oct, 2014.
