Photographying Kids and Families is again a new challenge and interesting area to explore. Recently I have been meeting some interesting people who want me to click some of their Family Portraits. although none of those photographs can be posted on PHOTO JOURNEY. This time, Ankita, Priyanka and their naughty brother allowed us to post some of the casual shots here...
Monsoons really help is getting appropriate photographs for various reasons. You get better contrast due to greenery everywhere and light during monsoons is comparatively better during evenings.
Every photographer has his own philosophy about Family Portraits and that's what defines their photographic style. But there are some standard things everyone of them follows and Digital Photography School explains them in terms of Dos & Don'ts - http://digital-photography-school.com/family-portraits-dos-and-donts
With most of these shoots, kids are usually uncomfortable in the beginning and slowly they needs to be motivated throughout the sessions to get better shots towards the end... In many of these photographs you will notice that kids are not very comfortable. Situation is easy to handle when there are multiple kids playing around and interacting with each other. At times, Photographer need not to put efforts in making them comfortable with the ideas of shooting various frames.
Tarun was a great help me for this shoot - Always smiling cheerful and champion at cracking jokes... He was always ready for doing anything to make their sisters laugh, pose or jump at times :)
During the shoot, showing good photographs on Camera-LCD is a big motivating factor for family members to get into more comfortable state and then they start giving their own ideas, which are more useful at times. When they start thinking about frames, at times better ideas come up because they better know their space and what suites better to their personality. I am not rigid on client's ideas. In my opinion, it's always better to listen to them, do what they want and also try my own ideas. End of the day, all of us want good results.
Jump shot is one of my favorite for Kids Photography. Above photograph is funny. Here Tarun is just acting like jumping but he never jumped on my call. His acts made the whole environment cheerful and we got some of the best Flying shots. We shall try to share some of the better ones soon on Photo Journey.
It was good to spend a monsoon evening with these three kids and had fun !!!
