Memorable weekend spent with Vatsalya Gram Kids @ Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, India

During first week of April, 2012 we spent a wonderful weekend with talented kids of Vatslya Gram. A fun filled weekend with lot of learning for our group and some religious moments around the town. This Photo Journey is just to have a feel of how most of the time was spent with Kids...The journey to Vatslya Gram started in the morning, after significant delay as per plan. Finaly we reached Vatslya Gram at 2:00 pm. After a short break and lunch, we met all the Kids at 'Shri Bhanu Pratap Shukl Smriti Shaheed Sangrahalay'. Above Photograph shows activity teacher listening to introduction by kids. All the kids were very interesting, including their teacher. The first thing that amazed all of us was the way they were singing Bhajans in group and there was amazing co-ordination. Some of the girls were using some musical instruments, which are usually seen in Temples. btw, above photograph was shot when children were making noise and teacher asked them to keep quite while other kid is introducing to all. After quick round of introduction, some bhajans, creative Clap sessions and Antakshari we played few games in a beautiful ground outside the 'Shri Bhanu Pratap Shukl Smriti Shaheed Sangrahalay'. These games were designed creatively to fit with the overall environment of Vatsalya Gram. In some of these games, we had to run and complete with kids. Which is undoubtedly a very challenging thing for Software Engineers who are used to spend their time in front of electronic gadgets, but some of us performed well :) ... Above photograph shows a kid, who just got the vacant place in a circle and now Ankur (boy in blue T-shirt) has to again take a round to complete with other kid. Idea was to challenge someone from the circle to leave the place, take a full round and finally see who takes the vacant place. So there were always two people running in opposite directions around a circle. There was another rule involved that while crossing each-other, both of the runners had to say 'Namaste Ji' with proper gestureDuring sunday, we conducted some small group activities including coloring, painting, clay-creations, origami etc. Above photograph shows senior kids of the group, who worked on creation made up of paper objects pasted on top of sheet with sprayed colors. Everyone happy after achieving beautiful results in the end !One of the most energetic kid in this group who had very strong expressions in every activity and from some sources, I got to know that she is also master in horse-riding. At Vatsalya Gram, there are four horses. This was a game where everyone was sitting in a circle and we had to do counting with some rules. It was like- start with 1,2,3... and count till 20. For 5,10,15 & 20, we had to say 'Jai Shree Ram'. From above expressions, you can make out that what she just said :)Here is another creative group working some colored paper creations. I checked their book-marks and those were amazing ! We shall soon be sharing another Photo Journey with their creative work done in a short span of 2 hours. Here is a photograph from first game where two folks had to run around a huge circle - one in clockwise direction and other in anti-clockwise. Above is the moment when each of them had to say 'Namaste' :Some of the folks were really involved in these activities in such a way that they had no clue about the time, as on same day we had to start our journey back. But it was all worth the time we spent at Vatsalya Gram. Many of us are quite interested in visiting the place again..Finally we were amazed by these talented kids... I didn't see any kid who was not focused about the activity. There was no sheet, where colors were going out. Some of the kids were from 4th standard. All of them sang some wonderful songs and few solo performances with our bandThey are habitual in doing things with fun ! We also had a round of whole campus which has two schools - one is for small kids and an international school where outsider students also come. Facilities at the school were unmatchableHere is a photograph of whole group with all the kids. This weekend will always be memorable for us and so this Photo Journey will be :)
