There is a beautiful lake near Deer Park of Green Park, Delhi and lot of colorful birds can be seen around the lake. The Spot-billed Duck is also known as the Spotbill, is a dabbling duck which breeds in tropical and eastern Asia. It has three subspecies: the Indian Spot-billed Duck , Eastern Spot-billed Duck and Burmese Spot-billed Duck. Spot Billed duck is resident in the southern part of its range from Pakistan and India to southern Japan, but the northern subspecies, the Eastern Spot-billed Duck is migratory, wintering in Southeast Asia. It is quite gregarious outside the breeding season and forms small flocks.Here is a lake of Hauz Khas Village overlooking ruins near to the market. This Photograph has been shot from Deer Park in Green Park, Delhi. 10 to 15 Black kites were roaming around the place and some of them were trying to attach ducks in the lake.Here is first view of the ruins in Hauz Khas Village, Delhi. The entry into the campus of ruins is near to Yeti Restaurant and towards the end of Hauz Khas Village market. There are three pavilions in the front lawn and mainly popular among local folks who spend their time in playing cards in this region. Of course, the place just in front of main gate can't be good for couples.Another Spot billed duck in Hauz Khas Village Lake, who calling other ducks as she has some fear from Black Kites flying on top of the lake. The Eastern Spot-billed Duck is darker and browner and it's body plumage is more similar to the Pacific Black Duck. It lacks the red bill spot and has a blue speculum. It is a bird of freshwater lakes and marshes in fairly open country and feeds by dabbling for plant food mainly in the evening or at night. It nests on the ground in vegetation near water and lays 8-14 eggs. The kites were eyeing the tiny ducklings but the geese were very aggressive in their defence. Nice captures VJ. The place is good but needs maintenance.
Apart from Maintenance, there is need of some security around Lake...
