Shimla greets tourists with a welcoming white sheet || First Snowfall of the Year 2012

Finally the much awaited snowfall has happened. A breather for locals who were looking towards the sky for this long, dry spell to end and a welcoming gesture for tourists who were waiting for a white Shimla. This will also help the tourism industry recover from a lean Christmas and New Year season as never seen beforeHere are a few snapshots taken at Jakhoo, the highest point of Shimla, which also is the first area to receive snowfall. The falling snowflakes make for an awesome feeling as cold drops form on your face and a look towards the sky causes a dizzying effect leaving you elated and happyThe pleasure of playing in the snow and making a snowman, well decorated with coal (for eyes), carrot (as its mouth), a cap and a scarf was quite something. Age old memories of running in the snow, throwing snowballs and best of all sledging are now all forgotten but refreshed with each fresh fall. Children these days don't enjoy snow as we did and neither are they excited about it. Another reason being that we don't have heavy snowfalls as we used to.But its a start so enjoy it whenever you get the chance as I have seen the excitement and glow with which my daughter plays in the snow today. Photographs in this Photo Journey are shared by various folks from Shimla, who witnessed the snowfall. Wonderful write above is done by Vandana Bhagra !! and Photographs by Vandana Bhagra, Sanjeev Sharma and Gaurav SoodHere is a photograph with snow covered trees on Shimla Mountains - By Gaurav Sood !!!At this point of time, when I compiling this Photo Journey, folks from Shimla must be enjoying on Mall Road and in case you are one of them & tired of walking here and there, Go to Viva Rest-o-Bar to have some drinks/snacks. I can't forget the golden college days when we used to walk down to HP University from Totu... Especially the area between Boileuganj and Summerhill used to be one of the awesome places to play with fresh snow :)HAPPY SNOWFALL AGAIN TO ALL !!!
