The Capital City of India, Delhi, is ready for celebrating Republic Day on 26th January, 2012. All preparations are almost done and appropriate authorities ensure best security measures in sensitive areas of Delhi and the places where actual celebrations take place. Now Republic Day is celebrated with much enthusiasm all over the country and especially in the capital City, New Delhi where the celebrations start with the Presidential address to the nation. Medals of bravery are presented by President to the people from the armed forces for their exceptional courage in the field and also the civilians, who have distinguished themselves by their different acts in different situations.
Many citizens of India from various parts of Country come to witness this grand ceremony at India Gate. A grand parade is held at India Gate by different troops of Indian Army. Many other educational Institutions, Culture Developments organizations from different States of India also participate to present some of the amazing activities which highlight core strengths of our Nation and make people proud of the constitution of India. During Republic Day of India, Indian Flags can be seen all around. It's not about India Gate and some selected parts of the country but every red-light, showroom, restaurant etc can be found decorated with Indian Flags. During this activity, most of the folks make sure that Indian Flag is not disrespected by any means, although many times these flags are also seen on roads after the ceremonial day, which is one of the sad part.
On this very special day of Republic Day, a special ceremony is organized at Rajpath and India Gate. Prime Minister of India present flowers at AMAR JAVAN JYOTI which is near India Gate, which signifies a moment when all soldiers are remembered for their contributions for our country. India Gate has names of many such soldiers, who have lost their lives for India and called 'Shaheed'.
Above Photograph shows India Gate having Indian Flag, which is made up of special lighting which is done during this time of the Year. This lighting lasts till Beating Retreat Ceremony which usually takes place after three days of Republic Day - 29th January. Beating Retreat signifies official closing of celebrations for Republic Days. This happens near Rashtrapati Bhavan, where Indian President announce the ceremonial closure of Republic Day Celebrations in India. During these three days, different parties, ceremonies take place in Delhi and all have some significance w.r.t nations different prides.
After grand Parade by Indian Army, lot of cultural events, dance performances on some of the famous patriotic songs take place on Raj-Path.

Republic Day commemorates the date on which the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India on 26 January 1950.
